The new stadiums that the Karnataka State Cricket Association has proposed in Mangaluru and other parts of the State will be green stadiums where solar power will be harnessed, KSCA honorary secretary Brijesh Patel has said.He was here recently to take part in the launch of the team jersey of Mangalore United team for the KPL 5th edition.

The proposal
Mr. Patel said that work was on to harness 1.3 MW of solar power at the M. Chinnaswami stadium in Bengaluru by spending Rs. 3.8 crore. He said power was already being generated from the eastern wing of the stadium. Work was on to harvest solar power from the western wing too.Mr. Patel said the KSCA had recovered Rs. 18 lakh of the investment made for the project because of generation of solar power. It will take time, but we will get it,” Mr. Patel said.

Compared with other State cricket associations, the KSCA was a step ahead in preparing players who were mentally tough.Through KPL, the KSCA was tapping the cricketing talent from rural parts of the State. He said Indian Premier League franchisees were watching the KPL matches to spot talented players.Mr. Patel said changes would be brought in the KPL 6th edition when each team would be allowed to have two players from other States. The Board of Control for Cricket in India had agreed to this proposal. Involvement of crickets from other States would improve the quality of cricket.District in-charge Minister B. Ramanath Rai, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports K. Abhayachandra Jain and Mr. Patel participated in the function to launch Mangalore United team jersey . Mangaluru North MLA Mohiuddin Bava and his brother B.M. Farook, who are the owners of the Mangalore United team, too were present.
